A WORD ABOUT FORMAT

Each essay is short, usually somewhere around 400 words. Why? First, I enjoy the challenge of trying to get a coherent thought squeezed out of as few words as possible. Second, I think most folks like it that way, short and to the point.

I make it a point to list the links used in researching each piece. I wouldn't want you to think that I just make this stuff up. I rely on several conventional sources but others may be a bit more offbeat. Part of what Every Man A Giant does is to celebrate the diversity of thought that is the internet. So maybe some of these sites are a little off the wall, but each in their own way give us something more to think about.

A WORD ABOUT THE TITLE

The first time I heard the phrase "Every Man A Giant," I was being dropped off at work by my car pool. A co-worker tossed off the line as we gathered up our briefcases, a sardonic summons to greatness issued in the face of yet another drab and predictable day as government bureaucrats. And yet ...

As stupid as it sounds, that casual piece of irony stayed with me. Those words became my private rallying call, a reminder that everything should matter, that everything can be meaningful. At the end of the day, isn't that something we would all like to believe?
