BRAINBOWS
In 2007, researchers at Harvard developed a technique to randomly mix green, cyan and yellow fluorescent proteins in individual mouse neurons. The resulting images are both beautiful and revealing. Color coding neurons, which process and transmit information by electrochemical signaling, will enable researchers to create a wiring diagram of the central nervous system and the brain.
